During Whisky & Spirits Live in Johannesburg, anCnoc will be hosting a masterclass, offering education into its rich heritage and modern outlook, and a taste of its ever popular portfolio of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies.
Attendees will be in for a treat with the anCnoc portfolio impressing judge’s worldwide year on year. This year alone, anCnoc 12 Year-Old has amassed four gold medals from the world’s top competitions (International Wine & Spirits Competition, International Spirits Challenge, San Francisco and New York Spirit Competitions.
Only last year, the anCnoc 18 Year Old expression, which will be on offer at Whisky & Spirits Live, earned the highly coveted award of ‘World’s Best Highland Single Malt’ in the 13 – 20 age category at the World Whisky Awards, a well-deserved title considering its popularity since release in 2014.
An extra special offering will join the portfolio in Johannesburg for the very first time, in the form of our AnCnoc 35 year-old (2nd Release), the brands most exclusive bottling to date. Laid to rest over three decades in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, the casks carefully chosen have given rise to a unique dram that still retains its youthful edge; the 35 Year Old has top notes of lemon curd, green apples and cut flowers followed by honey sweetness, creamy toffee, leather and spice. Its aroma fragrant and rich, with hints of warming wood smoke.
anCnoc’s peaty travel retail expression ‘Barrow’ will also be on show. Following the popularity, and success of their initial peated collection, Barrow is a continuation offered exclusively to the travel retail sector. The expressions name, in typical anCnoc fashion, is derived from a tool used in the peat extraction process. The Barrow is used after the peat has been cut to take the blocks from the stack and away from the bog. This helps clear the area and allow for the cutting process to continue. Its traditional name, and contemporary look and feel a perfect nod to anCnoc’s modern yet traditional outlook.
